How can the superintendent stay there after having slapped the assistant principal? The BOE needs to explain as this is not acceptable especially since the BOE knows this to be true. Why is she being in the school during this investigation? It's not right.
ReplyDeleteSounds like someone is trying to stir the pot; to get the community and media all fired up. The Assistant Principal is the Dignity For All co-coordinator. I think she would handle the situation appropriately if she had been "slapped".
DeleteThe Teachers, Parents and Community are disturbed by what the Board has decided to do. If the superintendent hits any one else, it will be the Boards' fault for not making the right decision. How many times has she attacked the assistant principal, far to many. The bullying has to stop.
ReplyDeleteHow does a school superintentdent/principal — a symbol of leadership and character — get away with this? And why does the school board president continue to give television interviews saying that she supports the superintentdent/principal, when she has had knowledge of this behavior for over a month? Apparently the school board is in support of physically assaulting staff members, otherwise they would have taken the steps already to remove the superintendent/principal because of these allegations. If the same allegations were made against a teacher, that teacher would have been placed on leave immediately pending an investigation into the matter. I guess the same rules don't apply to administrators.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - you need to come forward so we can report this to the BOE or maybe even the police....because my kids are not going there until she is ordered out of that school. If you don't feel comfortable - please contact me or Micheline.

I want some damn answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSave us the 12 g and get rid of her already. I am glad they have money in the budget for this, but can not find any for another 4 th grade or kindergarten teacher. Also, how is a teacher on paid leave and she did not physically strike anyone, but the Supt. can and is not on paid leave. Can you say double standard? From Renegades
ReplyDeleteSomebody should tell the news to check this out.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is it going to take for her to be put out on paid leave? 28 out of 29 teachers submitted a no confidence vote. a petition from parents and community members was submitted with about 400 signatures asking for her resignation. the wta met with some members of the boe since the vote of no confidence to discuss specifics , was this not one of them bc if it was shame on the boe. parents have met with some members of the boe with their examples and concerns. many parents and community members supported the teachers publicly at the last boe meeting. a 63 page document was provided to the boe Monday night with details on why the vote was done.
ReplyDeleteThe BOE seems to have made this a battle of wills. Just can't seem to make sense out of their approach. This scenario requires the board to be impartial and they refuse to give weight to the complaints of teachers and community members. This is insanely bizarre.
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't the BOE mention the names of the consultants they just hired in their statement on the website? That information was given out at the special meeting on July 29th, but if you didn't attend the meeting, you had to read the Times Union article to find out who the consultants were. I thought we were aiming for transparency here? Tell me again why the district just hired a communications person? Was it truly to inform the community? or was it an attempt at damage control?
ReplyDeleteSomeone on this Board has a connection to Henkle. What else would explain all of this? She was not the first or even second choice of the hiring committee (they didn't want her at all), yet she is hired. She is given a contract extension and raise after only 14 months on the job, when the BOE was aware of alligations against her. She physically abuses school personnel, on campus and is not removed. Really?? What will it take before she is removed? I dare to think.
ReplyDeleteThe BOE knew of the concerns of the teachers in March when it was made public her contract would be renewed and extended?
DeleteI was disappointed to nhear about a BOE meeting the day of and coould not arrange for child-care, Was it true a BOE member scoffed at the 60=page document presented to the BOE. I think they need to realize it is not us against them but all of us for the kids. The kids lost out this year on a quality education and support .Standards were raised to unrealistic goals and everyone suffered. I wish Dr. Henkel would say she is here for the children and community not for a quality education.Where was she for the three months that our children did not receive math or reading support.
ReplyDeleteStir the pot? I hope your child is not a victim of bullying, but if you had any clue about this you would know most cases are not reported for fear of retribution or the victim is emotionally or physically beaten down. Within the workplace it is mostly unreported for fear of losing a job. By the way from what I have heard there was also a teacher or staff member who witnessed and reported this. So why isn't the board responding to this by putting Dr. Henkel on leave during the investigation?Remember this is not a trial where something needs to be proved beyond a reasonable doubt! To Mr. or Mrs. Stir the Pot what piece of evidence will finally be enough if all the parents concerns and over 60 pgs of teacher comments are not good enough? I sincerely hope with your great insight you have shared that you did not drop 150 grand on an education you could have gotten for $1.50 in late charges at the public library.
ReplyDeleteTo the above comment about the board member's reaction to the teacher's document that same board member also scoffed at the 300 signatures and threw it forward when getting it. This is all a joke. They have no intention of getting rid of her as you can see from the consultants and what they will be doing. ( Renegade)
